.Jindabyne is the gate way to the Snowy Mountains a town in south-east New South Wales, Australia that overlooks Lake Jindabyne, in the Snowy Monaro Regional Council.Jindy is a beautiful Australian town at the foot hills of Snowy Mountains, close to Mt Kosciusko National Park . The town follows the contours of lake jindabyne offering majestic views of the Snowy Mountains.There is a mixture of country Australia meets Europe influence ,due its link with the snowy river scheme . In winter the town is a hive of activity due Its closeness to the two ski resorts of Thredbo and Perisher. Many vacationers will choose to stay at Jindabyne to save on costs and for the choice of either skiing or boarding at Perisher or Thredbo.
Jindabyne Activities
Jindy offers many outdoor and adventure activities. Go fishing, skiing, white-water rafting, mountain biking, camping, horse riding, sailing, windsurfing or canoeing. Picnic by the scenic lake or drive to one of the many lookouts along the Alpine Way. Visit the Gaden Trout Hatchery on the banks of the Thredbo River.

Getting to Perisher from Jindabyne
Apart from driving up the mountain you can take the ski tube from Bullocks Flat. Its location about 20 klm fron Jindy. The train takes you to Perisher or Blue Cow. It’s very efficient. There is ample parking and you don’t need chains to get to Bullocks Flat.Its saves you from driving on the dangerous ice roads.Besides there is no night parking at Perisher .If you driving up to the resorts, National Parks charge an entry fee, about $27 a day. As usual, you must carry chains in the car.

Located at the foot hills of Mt Kosciusko national park, Jindabyne is 34 Klm from Thredbo and 31 Klm from Perisher. From Canberra Jindabyne is a 2 hr drive and 178 klm, Sydney is 5.5 hrs and 458 klm. Melbourne via Hume is 6 and half hours drive and 580 kilometers.
Jindabyne Parking & Transport
There is plenty of parking all year round for cars and buses, though in winter its gets a bit cramped. Generally speaking its not to bad. The main source of public transport to and from Jindabyne is the bus service. In winter buses run every day from Canberra with pickups in Civic and Canberra airport. From Sydney there are bus tours in winter as well as standard public bus services picking up and dropping along its route. Greyhound and NSW Transport offer public bus services to Jindabyne.
